I'm using the following instructions for creating a Masonry Layout and I've encountered a couple issues.

Using Masonry in Genesis for a Pinterest like layout

    1. I want to add a widgetized area in the genesis_before_loop but when I do that it displays behind the masonry layout instead of above it.

    2. I never want more than 3 columns but when testing the responsiveness the first responsive marker creates 4 columns and pushes my sidebar down. I've tried adjusting the @media areas in css but I'm not having any luck fixing this.

What are the best ways to resolve getting a widgetized area above the layout & limiting the layout to 3 columns?

    Any insight/assistance is much appreciated.

Site it is being used on is samanthabrook.com/cms2 (test site only)
