    Hello, I'm hoping 'Nick" sees this post.

    Nick, you helped me over a year ago with this and I had book-marked the fix to make the drop down menu to select the color style come back when it disappears after updating Genesis.

    The old post was here - http://www.studiopress.com/support/showthread.php?t=87975

    But it's now gone. It was there I believe as recently as last month.

    Can you help please with a new post? I'm lost!

    Thank you,

    Stephanie

    They shut the old forum down. I remember when this was happening. Brian wrote instructions on how to add color options to your theme here - http://www.briangardner.com/code/create-color-style-options/. See if it helps you.

    Anita, that's awesome & I just bookmarked Brian's instructions. Thank you!

    The one I'm looking for though is with the Lifestyle theme running on Genesis.

    Nickthegeek, can't wait until you see this! Please help 🙂

    Can someone answer this question, please? I'm using Lifestyle and I also don't see the color-choosing drop-down anymore. I have two blogs using Genesis and Lifestyle; on the blog I didn't update, the drop-down appears. On the blog that has the current version of Genesis, I don't see the drop-down and I really don't want a blue theme. The answer linked above has apparently been deleted or moved. Thanks.

    The Wayback machine didn't have an archive of the old forum post, but it did have an archive of the code from Brian's old post:

    /** Create additional color style options */
    add_theme_support( 'genesis-style-selector', array( 'theme-blue' => 'Blue',
              'theme-green' => 'Green',
              'theme-orange' => 'Orange',
              'theme-red' => 'Red' ) );

    This would go in functions.php, and it might have to be adjusted to match the color declarations in your version of Lifestyle or whichever child theme no longer displays the color chooser.

    I'm not sure this is 100% compatible in Genesis 2.0... for instance, if you compare how the array is defined, the code used in Metro Pro to pick colors is slightly different.

    Hi,

    Sadly, the above fix just gave me back the dropdown to select the color I originally had (Tan). Which I did, but my theme is still the default Aqua.

    Can someone please tell me how to get my Tan theme back? I am on a strict launch timeline and have to go live with my site today!

    Many thanks in advance,
    Jennifer

    Jennifer, I "fixed" it by reinstalling the earlier version of Genesis.

    Thanks so much for the reply. Which earlier version? Would that be the point release 2.01 or something even earlier? I'm on 2.02.

    I went back to 2.0.1 and everything works.

    Thanks, again. I finally went in and started to hack the .css, which eventually worked but I lost several hours.

    I also don't see an option to rollback to the previous version. I have also searched and searched for how to do this - would you mind sharing this as well? Then I promise I will leave you alone 🙂

    I did turn auto-update off for Genesis though, which I suspect might have played a part in "now it's there, now it's not".

    Usually to go back to an older release, you have to use FTP and upload the previous version, which means you would have had to have downloaded that version from your account.

    I usually like to have downloads of the themes and framework versions, just for reference and testing. Packrat-itis 🙂

    I had kept the .zip of the previous version, so I uploaded that. Keeping earlier versions is my usual method now, thanks to issues like this one.
