    I'd like to use the new block based widget editor but note that Genesis have disabled it.

    I see that there is a work around by inserting a code snippet but I'd feel much more comfortable with a fully integrated editor that has been properly road tested and not in any danger of upsetting my existing site (I use the Genesis Sample Theme).

    Are there plans in place to make the block based widget editor the default option? And if so by when?

    You might be better off asking this question in the Genesis acebook group or in the Genesis Slack Community. Questions on this site are answered by volunteers with no affiliation with WPEngine or Studio Press.
