    I am changing from my (own) custom web site with external booking and blog sites to a WP (genesis) site that will contain all the functionality ie blog and reservations calendar with payment system. Hours of on-line searching for the best combination of themes and plugins has just got me confused...

    I have settled on using the genesis framework, because it looks relatively easy to customise (great support!), and possibly Wp Booking calendar. Has anyone out there had experience setting up a similar site and can give me your thoughts on the best combination of genesis theme and booking calendar--and any other useful hints?

    The functionality for any Studio Press built Genesis child theme derives from the framework. Choosing a child theme is a matter of personal taste and what's aesthetically pleasing to you and conveys the message you want to send about your brand.

    I used WP Booking Calendar on 1-site. The clients hated it. It was complicated and the license is relatively expensive for what it does.

    I currently use Bookafy (https://www.bookafy.com/) on my personal site. I got it as an Appsumo deal for $39 for lifetime access to the Pro version. It works and integrates with my the calendar on my Mac.

    There are so many choices out there for what you want to do, I'm sure you'll find something you'll like.

    You can achieve just about anything with Genesis , there is a lot of great code available that will allow you modify any child theme or simply create your own custom theme starting from scratch with the Genesis Sample theme.

    I built this from scratch using Genesis and Zerb Foundation 5 as a child theme with minimal plugins -

    Victor, thank you for your help. I am not sure that bookafy is suitable for an accommodation business. I have emailed them with this question (last week) and ma hoping for a reply. Regards Christine
