    In the newest child themes, Studiopress advertises putting a category description on the main blog page, stating simply:

    This is a sample category description, which can be used to boost your SEO rankings. Make sure you have this enabled from the Edit Category screen in your dashboard.

    I have the archive pages set, but I can't find any way to get it on the blog page itself. Is that possible? The hacks I can think of would either mean that it doesn't look the same as the category pages, or else changing the way I use categories.

    Edit the blog and put your custom content in WP Editor. Content will come the "Blog" title. I think that you are wanting this.
