MemberI inherited a 4 year old Genesis StudioPress site. It has changed web managers a number of times before me. Since I do not have the Genesis framework and am not a StudioPress member, it's be very difficult to try to resolve some issues that I would normally find pretty straightforward. I've searched for solutions everywhere I can find - videos, forums, courses. Though I find a solution eventually, it takes forever. At this point, I'm wondering if what I really need to do is purchase the Genesis Framework but it looks as if one must install that before a child theme. And because the child theme was not given a theme name that I can find in StudioPress ...I'm stumped. Do I also need to purchase StudioPress to get support for that old theme? Does this company have a direct contact to ask these questions? Thank you for any assistance you can offer!

ModeratorPlease post a link to the site.
If this is a Genesis site, then the framework is already installed. As for the theme, the name should be in style.css. When you post the link, we'll be able to tell you more about what you have.

ModeratorThe site is using a customized version of the old XHTML Associate theme, which is still available in the download area. The giveaway is the child theme folder name. The developers that setup the site didn't change the folder name even though they changed the theme name.
You say you don't have the Genesis Framework, but you do. It's installed on that site. It's an older version. The current version is 2.6.1, but you have it nevertheless. What you don't have is access to Studio Press support. This is a community volunteer forum. Questions on this forum are answered by end users just like you. If you want official Studio Press support, you have to purchase a license for the framework.
The Genesis Framework is basically an abstraction layer for WordPress functions. If you understand how to use WordPress hooks (actions and filters), then you've got all the knowledge you need to dig into the framework. The rest is just basic PHP, HTML, and CSS. If you want to learn the framework in depth, I suggest you visit https://knowthecode.io. Tonya's Genesis course is a best in breed.
You may want to consider updating the site to a HTML5 theme. It will save you a lot of grief. Many of the Genesis functions are different for HTML and XHTML. As a volunteer, I don't generally answer questions anymore about XHTML themes. I don't have any installed in my development environment and it's too much work to research to find the answers. If you have a support license, Studio Press can answer your questions directly.
