Community Forums › Forums › Archived Forums › Design Tips and Tricks › Infinity Pro – Why is it using h3 tags for front-page widget titles
Tagged: seo
On the front page I notice that h3 tags are being used for widget titles. I also notice there is an H2 tag for the screen reader text which is effectively pushed off screen.
Is this good SEO practice?
Normally we are taught to use meaningful structure in a hierarchy
H1 -> H2 -> H3
Why is the screen reader text for the main menu not in <p> tags and the front page widgets using H2. I don't see why an H2 around the words main content is going to be seen by search engines as relevant.
I notice on yoast.com he has made his widgets use H2 titles. I also notice on studipress.com that the H1 is placed not around the logo but on some meaningful text. Then H2 is being used on major titles.
It is tempting to change the registration of widgets in the infinty pro theme's functions.php to use H2 for widget titles and filter out the H2 on the screen-reader text.
