Increase the Width of Blog

HI,

Today I have purchased Genesis and installed in my blog. I want to make the blog width as the whole screen. I don't want to restrict it to fixed width. How Can I do that?. I have tried updating the CSS files, but it all not working correctly.

The easiest way would be to use a full width child theme like Magazine Pro - it's set up very similar to the News child theme, but it's not fixed width. Making News full width would require a lot more trouble than it's worth, in my opinion.

Why you say it is not worth. I have already purchased this theme. If I have to get the magazine then have to spend again. Will I face any issues if I increase the width?

I meant it's not worth the time and effort it would take. Increasing the width isn't an easy task; you would need to change a large number of CSS rules and there is no easy way to know what values to change without a lot of trial and error.

I'm curious - why buy a fixed width child theme if you wanted full width?

I have already purchased this theme. If I have to get the magazine then have to spend again.

If you purchased a StudioPress theme (and not one of the "marketplace" themes), there is a 30 day return policy. You can submit a refund request, and buy a new theme.

But, I like the News theme better than Magazine theme. Any one thinks that only reason for width should I go Magazine theme?. Why I should not change the width?.

Honestly, it would be easier to change the fonts, colors, etc. on Magazine to look like News than to change the width on News. But if you just really don't want to switch, feel free to try your hand at changing the width on the News theme. Just make sure you have a clean copy of the stylesheet somewhere in case you need to revert back to it.

Thank you for the kind help. Yes, since I have programming background I could manage these changes. I have changed the most of the part of width, but could not change the content area, what the problem is "vertical" grey line is moving when the actual content area width is increased. Any idea?
