Include a Slider in Daily Dish

I would like to include a slider in the Daily Dish theme but i cannot work out how to position it the way I want. I want it to appear either just above or just below the menu.
Any tips or plugin suggestions?

You can add a widget area after the header.

or

Hook in the sliders function call

function soliloquy_slider_header() {
if ( function_exists( 'soliloquy_slider' ) ) 
soliloquy_slider( '88' );
}
add_action('genesis_after_header', 'soliloquy_slider_header');

Using the Soliloquy slider, swap out the 88 with the i.d for your slider.

I've been successful in adding a widget area after the header however I would like to menu to appear under the new widget area and i also want to specify a specific size, how would I do that?

P.S. I'm also now finding that my menu subitems are displaying behind the widget area so i can no longer see the menu options when they appear.

If you want the menu to appear after the slider, you have to change the priority of the add_action so it loads first. The default priority is 10. Give it a priority less than 10. Here's more on add_action: https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/functions/add_action/

As for the sub-menu, change the z-index to 100 in .genesis-nav-menu .sub-menu around line 1216 in style.css.
