Until today my snippets on the search page would include an image even if I had no feature image added. It would just use the first image on the page.

But today for some reason an image will only appear on the search page if I have added a feature image. Not sure why this has suddenly happened. Any suggestions please.

The content archives in theme settings are set correctly.

The correct method to display featured images on any type of archive is to:

    1. Add the image as a featured image on the Edit Post screen.
    2. Use the Genesis > Theme Settings > Content Archives settings to display the featured image.

You can also code archive templates and add or remove the image using code in the file.
