General question about image header sizes on the mobile responsive themes.

I see 400x80 as the image header option. For the most part, this looks small and lost compared with the theme's default text for the header area. (Say on Daily Dish.)

Does it create problems to go to, say, a 650x (keeping the same ratio)? Thinking of the effect on mobile and tablets or whatever.

The solution depends on how you add the header image.

If you use the custom header uploader under the Appearance menu, it uses the values for width and height in your child themes functions file.

However, you'll still need to change the values in the SIte Header section of your child themes style.css file. You need to change at least 1 or 2 values for the width depending on the theme.

Also, if you increase the width of the title area to match that of your header image, you generally need to decrease the header right widget width by the same amount.

I think different people like different elements to look different on different sized screens. Mobile design is very personal however the existing Media Queries included in all Pro themes enable you to customize how you want your elements to look at different screen sizes and give you a clear idea of how mobile responsiveness works using CSS Media Queries.
