I'd love to have a couple of social icons in the Primary Navigation Extras area.

The best I could find was a plugin: "Genesis Social Profiles Menu"... but alas, it doesn't work. Firebug inspection reveals that the CSS my be incorrect. Due to Genesis changes?... not sure.

Regardless... what is the best way to achieve this?
    Thanks for any tips!

After much struggling... I did get it to work... just now.
    Thanks Brad.
I had to add the correct CSS to the plugin's CSS file.
Thanks again for your willingness to help.

    Hi Korg007

Care to share how you did this as I'm also finding that the icons are not showing in the nav bar

    Hi Tafita,
    Very simple... in the end.
I simply created a menu of type "custom" where I added my FB url. I then added the class "facebook-prl-s24" in the class field for this menu. I then played around with the CSS until it appears as I wanted it. I did the same for Twitter.

    I hope this helps.

So, you mean you want the FB icon to replace the characters "FB" that are currently in your nav?

Pluzito, After you answer the previous question,

    1. Did you install the Genesis Social Profiles Menu Plugin? I used this.
    2. For your site, you may try: https://wordpress.org/plugins/menu-social-icons/

Let me know how you make out.

Thanks for your answer. I want the social icons before the search box just like this: http://www.complex.com/

The FB link is just a try. I couldn't find Genesis Social Profiles Menu Plugin :S While I'll try the Menu Social Icons. Is there any chance to do this without installing a plugin :S

Thanks in advance for your time and advice 🙂

Hmmm.... The way complex did it could have been via a plugin or via the theme.
I used the Genesis plugin I told you about... to get the css really. I could have probably done without it. and for the site I worked on, it was in the menu bar.

On your theme, is the Search in a widget position?

The search box in my site is in the navigation menu extra position. Would be perfect I could add the icons there. 🙂

Without seeing the backend/theme, it's difficult to assist here.
If you can add custom code in that space and if you don't want to add a plugin, then all you have to do is add an linked FB icon in the area.
