    How can I display custom post types and custom taxonomies in genesis featured post widget?

    There is no filter to do this so you can either :

    1. Use a extended version of the widget in the form of a plugin which includes support for CPT's and custom taxonomies.

    or

    2. Rewrite the code in the widget in your child theme and modify the WP_Query $args.

    As Brad already mentioned, you have to create your own version of the widget. Google how to create a custom widget. There are many, many articles. http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-create-a-custom-wordpress-widget/
