I'm using the childtheme Executive Pro.
I want to make the header section to have a red background colour that is just the 960px wide and 100px deep - and also to have white text (instead of the black). I'm finding the stylesheet extremely difficult to understand and would really be thankful for some clear help to know how to do this.

    Many thanks for your time

Can you post a link to your site? Without being able to look at what's going on, it's very difficult to help troubleshoot.

That said, if you aren't already, use a tool like Firebug (http://getfirebug.com) - it will let you right-click on different parts of the site and see which parts of the stylesheet apply to each element. You can also change CSS while you're looking at the site to preview how changes might look before you change the actual stylesheet. It's a great tool, especially if you're new to CSS and/or overwhelmed by all the style rules.

Nutsandbolts, many thanks for responding! 🙂 This is the site here: http://themarketingmother.com/demo1/

I do use both Firebug and Google Developers tools and usually manage with a bit of trial and error to find the solution but this time I'm finding it impossible to recognise what and where I need to put border and padding info.

I've managed to centre the slider but even that is completely lopsided, (as are the 3 widgets below it, they are all on the left-hand side for some reason??)

Many thanks for your help 🙂

Oops, sorry ...just realised that I've posted to the other question I asked 🙁 ...and I can't edit it any longer. Sorry about that

So anyway, that is the site I'm working on: http://themarketingmother.com/demo1/

...and yes thank you, I do use firebug and google developer tools, but as in my other thread, this has stumped me so far.

    Many thanks for your help:)
