My client's site is down. All that shows up on the homepage and the login page is a blank screen. I think the problem is that the Genesis Framework needs an update (I had the same problem with another site and that was the problem). The site is using the Balance child theme.

The thing is, I can't log into the WP dashboard to update Genesis because of this problem. Is it possible to update Genesis by FTP?

    Follow the instructions here.

Installing With An FTP Client (Advanced)

    1. Download the theme zip file to your computer, and unzip it. You will see a theme folder with the name of the theme you are installing.

    2. Log in to your server through an FTP client, and navigate to the wp-content/themes directory. You will transfer the entire theme folder to that directory. If you are using a child theme, you will need to transfer both the genesis theme folder as well as the child theme folder to that directory.

Download the Genesis Framework from this here. Expand the zip file. Log into the FTP site. Over write the contents on the server with the contents of the Genesis directory. Genesis is found in wp-content/themes.
