    Hi all!

I'm modifying a child theme, rather than building from scratch, for the first time. I'm using Executive Pro and I'm having trouble with the special homepage that comes prebuilt with the Child Theme.

To construct the homepage, you can drop Genesis Featured Posts or Pages into specific "Home" widgets, and it drops them into the layout.

My problem is that when you do this, you kill the hooks, losing access to any control over content. What I'm aiming to do is replace the standard PAGE content with custom excerpts that I've added on to the page editing menu with custom meta fields.

Any advice or help will be greatly appreciated!

I’ve accepted the challenge! I’ll be answering at least 1 unanswered post per week.
