    I feel ridiculous asking this. I used to build a lot of websites in Genesis, but a few years have passed. This should be the simplest thing ever.

    I've installed Genesis and Author Pro on a new site - most up to date versions of everything. Also the Author Pro plugin.

    I just want to make the overall width of the site smaller. I want the site to be more narrow (in browsers on tablets, chromebooks, laptops, computers, etc... I don't want to mess with the mobile layout).

    I just need more negative space. The site takes up too much area. I want it more narrow with more of the background image visible on the sides. I've tried changing the containers - .site-inner .content etc in both the child css and the parent css with no luck.

    I'm sure I'm missing something obvious. Help?

    PS While we're at it, how do I make the header less tall? I've tried changing that too, also with no luck.

    You're not going to be successful unless you change some of the mobile CSS. Many of the container elements are adjusted in the media queries. Changing in style.css without looking through the media queries for corresponding mobile device adjustments will produce the result you are experiencing...nothing.

    OK, I'll look at that. Thanks.

    Maybe you can help me with something else? I tried to go back and delete the URL I entered, but I couldn't. Is there a way I can remove that or remove this whole conversation?

    The URL can't be deleted.

    You can try eg.(max-width:900px)

    @media (max-width:900px) {
    	h1.site-title {
        font-size: 2.4rem;
    }
    }
