Am I wrong in thinking that http://my.studiopress.com/themes/hello/#demo-full uses the Genesis eNews Extended plugin? If I am correct, then my question is, how do you get the button to line up with the name/email fields? The button falls outside the fields. I filled in the info in the widget following a step-by-step video and confirmed with a second video. But they both show the name, email and optin button stacked, not side-by-side. In essence, my button is outside the form.

Your HTML is broken in the section above the form, which is throwing off everything below. You have an extra closing div tag without a corresponding open div. You have to view the page source code to see it. If you use Firefox, the broken HTML will display in red.

I see that now, but how did it get there? I thought maybe it was the result of repositioning the widgets, but when I go back into front-page.php nothing I do makes a difference. Even putting the original code back in doesn't change anything. It's the only place I've done anything with HTML that I know of. Everything else has been done in css. Oh wait, when I entered the aWeber code into the eNews widget, I added a </div> at the end of the hidden section, as instructed in a video I watched. Another video didn't show picking that up in the code, so I removed it. Doesn't seem to make a difference either way.

I did manage to position the cta the way I want it by finagling things, but if the extra </div> is the issue, I would really like to get it resolved. Maybe doing so will resolve the other issue(s) I have later in the page.

I ran your source code through my code editor, the </div> after the meta_tooltip hidden field doesn't belong there. That's what's messing everything up.

Got it resolved. It was in the front-page.php from when I re-ordered the widgets.
