    I would like to put the logo image all across the width of the site. I found this tutorial on another post in this forum but when I tried it, I can no longer insert the image.

    Tutorial: http://keypresswp.com/getting-your-head-around-header-images/#option6

    Remove the CSS from the end of your style.css file and then double check the tutorial

    .site-header,
    .title-area,
    .site-title,
    .header-image .title-area,
    .header-image .site-title,
    .header-image .site-title a {
        float: left;
        margin: 0;
        max-width: 100%;
        min-height: 0%;
        padding: 0;
        width: 100%;
        text-indent: 0;
    }

    .site-title a,
    .site-title a:hover {
        background: transparent;
        float: left;
        margin: 0;
        padding: 0;
        width: 100%;
    }

    This is your problem :

    min-height: 0%;

    Also check the height for .site-header

    Thank you. I deleted that code and went through and changed site-header to 1140. The logo still isn't appearing. I went through the tutorial again, so I might not be understanding or misunderstanding a step.

    I suggest you install a fresh copy of your theme and start again. You should be able to save your plugin settings.
