    I just noticed that all my genesis sites are missing the <head attributes.

    It should be: <head itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/WebSite">

    Instead, all my sites are: <head >

    I even checked some genesis that are not mine and they don't have the attributes either. Even http://www.billerickson.net is missing the attributes. However, if I check http://demo.studiopress.com/metro/, it has <head itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/WebSite">

    Anyone know why?

    Where did you learn this? I've read dozens of authoritative sites and tutorials on schema.org and there has never been one mention of adding anything to the head tag.

    I learned it because I was validating a site on https://validator.w3.org

    Here is the top section of http://demo.studiopress.com/metro/:

    <!DOCTYPE html>
    <html lang="en-US">
    <head itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/WebSite">
    <meta charset="UTF-8" />
    <title>Metro Pro – Mobile Responsive for the Genesis Framework</title><meta name="description" content="Mobile Responsive for the Genesis Framework" />

    Here is the top section of my site:

    <!DOCTYPE html>
    <html lang="en-US" prefix="og: http://ogp.me/ns#">
    <head >
    <meta charset="UTF-8" />

    I don't really care if the schema.org stuff is in the <head> tag, but I don't want the space.

    Yoast plugin is removing the attributes from Head tag. I am sure that you are using the Yoast plugin.

    You can't get rid of the space but you can add the schema.org markup for website. Add the following code to functions.php:

    add_filter('genesis_attr_head', 'vmf_head_attributes');
    function vmf_head_attributes( $attributes ) {
        $attributes['itemscope'] = 'itemscope';
        $attributes['itemtype'] = 'http://schema.org/WebSite';

        return $attributes;
    }
