My customer only wants Google fonts hosted locally for this site (still under development).
I use Lifestyle Pro. For WordPress I have disabled the Google Fonts with the Plugin Disable Google Fonts (https://de.wordpress.org/plugins/disable-google-fonts/).
For installing the Google Fonts locally I have followed the instructions given in this post by Victor Font: https://victorfont.com/use-google-fonts-locally/.
Also, I have included preloading for the fonts in the header section of the theme.
Unfortunately, it takes an awfully long time for the font to load, even if I use caching. The only browser which is working fine is Microsoft Edge.
It did not help to disable the "Disable Google Fonts" plugin.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong/missing here?
Thanks in advance for your help.http://dev.markus-holtermann.de/
You are preloading the fonts with the https protocol on a site that does not have https enabled. This will cause a loading problem.
You are preloading the fonts from a directory called WordPress
You are not loading the fonts from the child theme directory in your style sheet.
Basically, the paths in the preload and style sheet don't match and you are using the wrong protocol.
Thanks a lot Victor, that did it! I really appreciate your help!
So just to sum it up, my mistake was that I did not put the fonts in the directory /wp-content/themes/fonts/ and did not use correct links for preloading.
