    The site is at: http://www.happy.aileenbarker.com/

I'm trying to get it so that the background of the excerpt is a semi-transparent white and the text is solid white. It seems that when I make the excerpt background partially transparent, it does the same to the text inside making the text the same as the background which makes it non-visible. Anyone have any tips?

Hi, Aileen - I know this is an old post so you may have figured out an alternative. What I do in these situations is create a .png image in Photoshop that's just the color I want with, say, 80% opacity. It can be a small image - 30px square or smaller - but then if you change it to have the background be that image instead of a color, you can leave the background at 1.0 opacity (which means the text will not be altered) and still have it be semi-transparent.
