I'm needing to have the Genesis Responsive Slider grab an image from the custom field instead of the Featured Image so I can use the Featured Image function to showcase vertical thumbnails on my grid.

Any idea of how I'd edit either my child theme (outreach) or the slider plugin itself to not grab the featured image but use a custom field instead?

You'd be better off finding a different slider plugin.

i have a custom post type (slider) with custom field (display -- checkbox with 'on|off') which i'd like to use with the genesis responsive slider. is there a way i can use a function to read the 'display' field to determine whether the slider post is included in the slider?
