I installed the Genesis framework - and would like to follow-up with the Infinity Pro Child Theme.

It says Genesis is the active theme, but when I try to add plug-ins - or upload the infinity pro theme, WordPress tells me I need to have the Genesis framework installed first.

Side note: this has never happened to me, so I am not sure what steps I need to take. I already tried deleting and re-uploading Genesis.

Genesis never needs to the active theme. All you have to do is make sure Genesis is in the theme directory, then activate the child theme.
