I'm not well versed in doing a lot with custom CSS stuff (but I can follow instructions pretty well).

That said, I am struggling to make our site (http://www.e-mergemarketing.net) a responsive design site.

Anyone know if this is possible with the combination engine and theme we are using and if so, how difficult is it to get to where we want to be?

    TIA
    R. Fisher

Making your existing site/design responsive will not be a pleasant experience, in my opinion. (I'm not sure what you mean by "engine".) But it can be done and there are plugins that may help. What process have you tried?

In the long run it is likely far better to choose a current, responsive design and get all the additional benefits of Genesis 2.0, HTML5, CSS3, Schema.org microdata and options for a more contemporary look.

There are probably 300+ mobile responsive themes for Genesis. I have only 257 listed here:

From this link you can filter by additional features, categories and theme shops.

Edit: One place to start is with StudioPress' Enterprise Pro theme:

Please let me and others here know if you'd like assistance with your conversion.
