I've been using Genesis for 7+ years and it feels like you are going out of your way to break everything I love and use on the platform. It feels like you are courting less sophisticated social media influencer types and willfully and with immense conviction making sure you make things 10X harder for advanced users.

Killing the blog template? Why would you intentionally do that? I have over 50 sites running and you're just going to arbitrarily break them? You're making it really really really hard for me to see this in a positive light.

    Hi graywolf,

This is not an official Studio Press support site. It is a community forum where questions are answered by volunteers. We're end users just like you with no affiliation with Studio Press.

If you want to ask your question where it will be seen by Studio Press, I suggest you do so by opening a support ticket, joining the Genesis WordPress Facebook page, or the Genesis WP Slack group.

I use neither of those platforms, kinda confirms we aren't moving in the same direction anymore.

Thank you for trying to be helpful though.

@graywolf - I totally agree with your views!

Genesis is slowly moving away from a lightweight theme it once was to an all-in-one bloat (aka Divi). Have you noticed how the file sizes are getting bigger with all the extras needed for the one-click demo install feature and Atomic Blocks.

Since WPengine purchased Atomic Blocks, we are now forced to use this plugin for all new themes. Why not just stick to creating layouts using the built-in Gutenberg?

If you've built a genesis website using Atomic Blocks, what happens when there is a bug/problem with a plugin update (like it happens for every other plugin).

I see some of this as well..My view is its not as bad as all that but I am finding it a bit difficult to embrace the new direction to the customizer and all as well..
So lets see..I am not at all going to jump on a the full bash wagon but yes it seems to be a bit in the direction of more than less..
    🙂
