    Does Genesis 2.7.1 (most recent version) work with the old Education theme that came out in 2013? I am not talking about Education Pro, but the original Education theme.

    Answer is YES. I tested it in a staging environment and it works with the 2012 Education theme. 🙂 My "unwilling to change themes" client is thrilled. Woot!

    Genesis is backward compatible for XHTML themes. That may not always be the case however, especially given the direction WordPress is heading. While I don't know any specifics or if that will ever be the case, I would do what I could to convince the client to upgrade at some point in the future. You can only drive the same care for so long before it ends up in the junk heap.
