Genesis 2.2.7 update crashes site (error in Genesis Sandbox Featured Content W)

I have posted a message about this on WordPress.org but the Genesis update 2.2.7 crashes the back-end of WordPress for me.

As you can see the error I'm getting is:
PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function genesis_get_option() in /xxx/wp-content/plugins/genesis-featured-content-widget/gs-featured-content-widget.php on line 86

Any ideas why this happening? Did something change in the new 2.2.7 that is creating this fatal error and crashing the site?

Apparently this is a known issue with the Genesis Sandbox Featured Widget. https://wordpress.org/support/topic/fatal-error-if-genesis-is-not-active

Since this was created by a third party, you could try reaching out to the plugin developer, but he hasn't updated the plugin for over 2 years..

After updating to Genesis 2.2.7 I am getting this error: Notice: genesis_home is deprecated since version 1.7.0! Use do_action( 'genesis_home' ) instead. in /home/content/23/6645523/html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 3573

My issue was resolved. I enabled error logs and when I reset enable error logs to 'false' the Genesis error went away.
