    Hi everyone,

Just looking for a little advice based on Google SEO. We have a large website with very old pages/posts should we trash these in our google analytics to make the website smaller or should we leave alone as it may affect rankings?

    Any advice would be great!

Deleting the pages from the site will not remove them from Google. Once Google indexes content, it stays indexed and will continue to appear in search results.

If you delete pages from the site with redirecting the URL to other content, it will impact ranking. Google will discover the 404 errors and reduce your scores. If you're not using their search console, make sure you enable it. It will email you regularly with search coverage issues that impact your ranking. For 404 errors, create a 301 redirect either to the home page or another page with similar content to the deleted page.

Cheers for all of the above Victor, was very helpful! I'll ensure to enable the search console. Could I also pick your brains in regards to an issue with a time out issue on our website caused by SQL databases?
