    This is what I posted over on the old support forum:

    Hi,

    I followed the advice of one of the other forum posts for changing the footer text (which I now can't find) and now the footer looks strange.

    >>> http://thenightowlpost.com/

    The footer bar is separated from the footer widgets... there is a big gap and all I did was change the text. I don't get how this could of happened. Didn't even touch the CSS.

    Help please?

    This is what the support person said:

    See the actual footer tutorials:
    http://www.studiopress.com/tutorials/customize-footer

    And I followed EXACTLY what the customize - footer tutorial said... and THIS is what it looks like... *sigh*

    (Or click here >>> http://lifeaftertwilight.net/ )

    Help, please... again?

    Reduce the width of your #footer .gototop or your #footer .creds in the CSS and you should be good to go.

    It looks like there is more padding on these two elements than in the original theme (Serenity)... essentially making them wider than they otherwise would be... forcing one down below the other.

    As an example... if you changed the width of your .gototop to 155px would that be the look your attempting?
    #footer .gototop {
    width: 155px;
    float: left;
    margin: 0;
    padding: 5px 0 0 25px;
    }
