I edited style.css to change font-weight from the default 300 to double, 600, and saved the style.css file.

But the font weight seems unchanged and the Inspect in Chrome and Inspector in Firefox show the coding still at 300

I've cleared the cache a couple of times and don't know what else to do.

I know I could buy the Design Palette Pro but hope there is an easier css solution.

I've now changed the font weight in style.css to 700, but it still appears on a Chrome inspect as 300 and the font is still too light to read easiy.
