I am trying to speed up my sites that use StudioPress (SP) themes. I notice that most SP themes use google fonts. If sites do this GTMetrix suggests that you specify a cache validator:

    GTMetrix Screen Shot

I tried going to the URL that GTMetrix supplies and copying the font code and pasting it into the end of the themes style.css file, then using the remove google font plugin. But GTMetrix still complains, and appearance of the site changes due to the font not loading.

What is the best practice to address this GTMetrix concern?

There's nothing that can be done for files sent from a different server. You don't have any control over them. Besides, that error is very likely a false positive. If you check the font at this site: https://redbot.org/?uri=http%3A%2F%2Ffonts.googleapis.com%2Fcss%3Ffamily%3DVollkorn%3A400italic%2C400, you will see that Google is sending a cache-control header.

OK. Thanks for the help. I won't waste any more time on trying to improve this element then.
