    Hi,

I was wondering how on my blog page I can display the first post with the big featured image and with full text and the following posts with small feature image on the left with read more.
I have this in mind: I'd like it like here: http://www.xosarah.com

I have seen a topic like that on the forum but don't like the solution of having two widgets area with featured posts.
I'm sure there is another solution. The girl on this site seems to have created a div for the "teaser posts" as she calls them but I don't know how to do that or what kind of tutorial I could look for that.

I'm working locally and on sample theme so I cannot provide a link to my site..

    Any idea?

    Thanks!

    Hi Brad,

Thanks for that. I understand the principle..but I don't know how to apply it 🙁
I've put the code in fonctions.php I understand it adds a class I can use to style my first post so:

.first-class-post in css but I don't know what to select after that to give my image the size of the column
is it .featuredpost img ? do I give it a width and height? And how do I make the post not an excerpt for the first post only?

Finally, I'll probably won't use the homepage for my blog so do I have to replace is_home by is_page( 'sample-page' ) and the name of the page or the ID of the page?

I'm sorry to ask all that. I'm not just looking for making one website but I try to train myself. I read a lot of posts for that and have followed carrie dills course on lynda but as I learn by myself and have no IT tuition in french where I live (Angola) things are quite difficult sometimes. I have also watch rob cubbon ecourse which use genesis and I can do the basics on genesis but when I try to go further I don't know where to start.

    Thanks.

Ask in the post comments please

You can use CSS to modify the width and height values or PHP to change the image size.

The post also contains a related link at the end to change the featured image size.

    Hi ,

Sorry as there was no comment on the post I didn't know where to ask.

I have seen that link as well(the one about the image size). But I still don't know how to make the first post full and the others only extracts.
I will study that and take my time. As for the ones who would like to find an easy solution I've just found that plugin which does what I want : http://wordpress.org/plugins/genesis-post-teasers/
maybe it can help others who want to get the same result as I do. But I'll definitely try to figure out how to make it without a plugin..I don't like having too much of them..

    Thanks
