Hey guys, I'm creating a new site using Modern Portfolio Pro theme (not online yet) and I need the links from the Featured Posts widget (and its images) to be opened in a new tab (with _blank target), but there isn't such an option.

I contacted StudioPress customer service and they gave me some tips like:

    1. You would need to add a custom code to your child theme to change how the Genesis Featured Posts widget generates post links.
    2. You could try using a plugin that forces links to open in a new tab.
    3. We have a growing collection of code snippets that can be used as a starting point for many customisations here: http://my.studiopress.com/snippets/
    4. And the best answer: If you need additional assistance customising your theme we would encourage you to post your question to our community forum where other users and developers can provide suggestions on how to proceed.

    And here I am... 🙂

Can anyone help me with this code?

    Cheers.

You would need to copy over the widget code to your child theme and modify the code there to change the links. Here's an example of how this can be done.

    Or

Find a extended version of the genesis featured posts widget ( Plugin ) which includes a option to open links in a new window.

    Or

Try using jQuery to open your links in a new window.
