The Featured Posts and Featured Pages widgets display the excerpts in one column, with one excerpt after the other (in the Infinity Pro theme), when displayed on a wide screen. Is it possible to configure them so that the excerpts are displayed side by side, say, in 3 columns, but in only a single column when the screen is too small to display them side by side?

I realize that 3 columns can be set up in a text widget, but I hope to benefit from the automatic selections inherent in the Featured Posts and Feature Pages widgets.

Flexible widgets are built into the Infinity Pro themes front page widget areas 2, 3, 4 and 5.

The CSS and CSS for Media Queries is also included in style-front.css file which you can modify for use with the featured post or featured page widgets.

Did this question ever get resolved? Perhaps the flexible widgets tip went over my head, but I've also been struggling today to figure out how to manipulate this theme in order to add a featured posts widget to a few of the front page widget areas and have them display horizontally in sets of 3-6 instead of vertically in one column.

    Yes, it is resolved.
Suppose you want 3 posts side by side. You need to select the widget 3 times. In the 2nd and 3rd widgets, you should configure them to not repeat any posts that have already been displayed. I suppose there is a limit to how many can be displayed side by side, but you just have to try it.

Ah I see how that could be a work-around (albeit an awkward one), but it still doesn't resolve the question of how one might tweak the theme such that one Genesis Featured Posts widget dropped into one of those sections displays multiple featured posts horizontally as it does normally in other themes. In Cookd Pro, for example, you just drop the Genesis Featured Posts widget into Home Middle and set the number of posts to display at 4 and it renders 4 posts across. You don't have to drop in 4 featured posts widgets to do that. I think that's what both the original poster here and I are both trying to figure out how to make happen.

Please link to the front page section which contains the featured posts widget.
