Featured Post Content Limit Formatting – Is it Possible?

I'm hoping that there is an easier way to format the excerpts given out from the Featured Post widget on a widgetized homepage.

More specifically, I'm looking for a way to retain my line breaks and formatting from a post in the excerpt instead of it being a massive wall of text. Is this possible?

i did this way

add_action( 'genesis_post_content', 'genesis_do_custom_post_content' );
function genesis_do_custom_post_content(){
   if( is_page_template('page_blog.php') || is_archive() || is_category() )
      the_content_limit(1200, 'Continue Reading...', true);
 }

None are doing what I want them to do 🙁 I'm playing with custom excerpts though, while it takes time, does what I want it to do. Thanks for the input though!
