How do I customize the favicon for this theme? I activated the Site Icon feature of JetPack, but it only updated the site icon in the admin side of the site. It did not update on the public side.

Dumb question, but sometimes it's relevant: Is your new favicon the correct size and does it have the right file extension?
Also...I've seen lots of instances where favicons take a long time...really long time to start loading correctly.

Just a note on favicon changing, but there's a more comprehensive way to accomplish this and for most devices.

I've got as far as downloading the zip, but how do I extract it where it needs to go?
On previous sites, I've just FTP'd the ico file, with this method, do I need to send over all the individual files in the package?Thanks in advance.

Yes, you'll need to use an unzip tool to extract all the files to your local machine first from the archive package the tool creates; then FTP them up to the WordPress root location on your hosting platform. If you need extra help, let me know what FTP client you use and perhaps your hosting structure (directories).
