I have one site using Executive Pro version 3.1.2 where the background highlights on sub menu items show up correctly, but on version 3.2.2 the background highlights on sub menu items do not appear.
Executive Pro seems to have used to handle these highlights under the genesis settings area, but it now handles this under the customize are of WordPress. As far as I can tell, the colored highlights seem to work for top level menu items and for regular links, but they do not seem to work for sub menu (as in the dropdown on a main menu item), so when you're on a submenu page, you won't see the background color in the menu.
Hope that makes sense. Does not appear to be a browser issue... shows up in both chrome and firefox.

The mouseover color (gray) works fine as you move down the menu (sub pages), and if you mouse off a sub menu item in the menu, it actually turns up as the right background color for an instant as you mouse off, but it doesn't appear as intended. Doesn't appear to be a plugin conflict and no errors fired by chrome inspect that I can tell.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?April 18, 2017 at 5:53 am #204932moorezillaMemberhttp://thefarmland.admcg.com/wp/about/testimonials/
Testimonial page should have a red background in top menu upon pull down, but it is not colored. If you mouse off quickly, you can see the red coloring.
whereas
http://www.kelleytree.com/tree-removals/
has the appropriate green background behind Tree Removal in top menu (under Tree Services top menu item).
The Kelly Tree site has the same plugins, version of WordPress, etc, but it is an older site that has been updated, rather than a new site. The only difference I can tell, is that the Kelly tree site still has the Executive Pro color scheme options under the Genesis Theme settings, whereas the color settings in the newer Farmland site handle these color options only in the customize are of the WordPress backend.
April 19, 2017 at 4:11 pm #205023Victor FontModeratorThe first one that's not working has custom CSS that is overriding the theme CSS. It is coming from the WordPress customizer. It looks like there's a different accenct color chosen.
The second one is using the theme's style sheet.

The updated executive pro uses the customizer extension in WordPress for accent color changes, as opposed to the older version of executive pro that handled this as an option beneath the genesis theme settings. This would explain why the new version overrides the theme css, I think... but it still doesn't solve the problem. I still think it's a bug in the new version of executive pro, and there's no way to handle the theme color changes in the older genesis area way.
The custom css area of the one not working is only the default:
/*
You can add your own CSS here.Click the help icon above to learn more.
*/so any customizer css must be added by the new version of executive pro when the color accent is changed under the customizer area... which I think is how Genesis intends for this to be handled in the new version of executive pro. Hope that all makes sense.
Thanks again for looking into this!
April 20, 2017 at 10:05 am #205070moorezillaMemberJust as an update, but this seems to be a bug with the latest version of the child theme. I opened a ticket with Studiopress and will update as it progresses. So far the response is:
The Accent Color specified in Appearance > Customize > Colors is supposed to change a variety of website elements, including the background colour of current menu items.
I do see that this is working for top level menu items but not for submenu items, as you've described. I've passed this information on to our developers for review.
If you'd like the submenu background colour to change on hover, you can add the following to Appearance > Customize > Custom CSS:
.genesis-nav-menu .current-menu-item > a { background-color: #ad0d28 !important; }
