I have a static home page, but now need a sidebar-content-sidebar layout for some of the other pages.
I have spent hours trying to figure this out, tried various plugins (paid and unpaid) etc. but time now to admit defeat and ask the professionals. My coding knowledge is virtually zero, but I can follow instructions really well 🙂
How do I add a second sidebar to Executive Pro please?
Remove the following code from your functions.php file
genesis_unregister_layout( 'sidebar-content-sidebar' ); //* Unregister secondary sidebar unregister_sidebar( 'sidebar-alt' );
Now edit any page and select "sidebar-content-sidebar" layout from edit screen. It will work now. Also you should add the widget in Secondary Sidebar.
Thank you for replying so quickly. The secondary sidebar is appearing full width underneath the page content instead of on the right hand side of the page.
Any ideas? I very much appreciate any help.
Now you need to modify the CSS. Fix the width in css and it will work. Can you share your site url?
Thank you for your continued assistance. I'm feeling a bit dumb! What do I need to fix or add into the CSS? Do I need to add a code snippet for the secondary sidebar and if so what? Or am I fixing the width of something else?
Until today, I have found the Genesis/Studiopress remarkably easy for a complete novice to use. This one is probably easy too, but I need leading by the hand, I am afraid.
The site is still a work in progress locally on my computer.
