I am using Enterprise theme, but cannot get the Home Page slider to work in the Home Top #2 widget. I have tried WP-Cycle, as well as Genesis Responsive Slider. Can someone help me? Thanks so much!
Here is the page I'm working on: http://www.pineblossomswebsites.com/tbc/

June 15, 2013 at 9:02 pm #46212JanetMemberI'm sorry not to give more info! When I click on Upload in the WP-Cycle plugin, the only thing that happens is that I'm taken back to the home page, and, of course, the picture I tried to upload is not there. I've used this theme before with no problems on the slider, so I'm puzzled! I don't see anything to place in that widget area.
Thanks!

June 19, 2013 at 9:39 pm #46844Aaron HartlandMemberWhen using the Enterprise theme with WP-Cycle, you don't need to place anything in the Home Top #2 widget area. Instead, WP-Cycle is called by the home.php template file. Photos are uploaded in Dashboard > Media > WP-Cycle. Here is the code from the theme's home.php file that calls WP-Cycle:
add_action( 'genesis_after_header', 'enterprise_home_top_helper' ); /** * Conditionally add Home Top #1 (home-top-1) sidebar and WP-Cycle. */ function enterprise_home_top_helper() { echo ''; if ( is_active_sidebar( 'home-top-1' ) ) { echo ''; dynamic_sidebar( 'home-top-1' ); echo ''; } echo ''; if ( function_exists( 'wp_cycle' ) ) wp_cycle(); echo ''; echo ''; }
If you'd like to widgetize the Home Top #2 area (to use something like the Genesis Responsive Slider), replace this:
echo ''; if ( function_exists( 'wp_cycle' ) ) wp_cycle(); echo ''; echo '';
with this:
echo ''; dynamic_sidebar( 'home-top-2' ); echo ''; echo '';

Thanks!
June 20, 2013 at 2:06 pm #46921Aaron HartlandMemberJust to be clear... You already uploaded your photos in Dashboard > Media > WP-Cycle ... and they are not displaying? If it were me, I'd trouble shoot this problem before moving to something else...
WP-Cycle doesn't work as a widget, so the code I provided would be if you do not want to use WP-Cycle, but rather use a different slider in that widget area. (Keep in mind, additional styling may be required.)
If you wish to widgetize the Home Top #2 area so that you can drag/drop widgets into this are and have them display on the theme... then yes. The change is removing the already existing call for WP-Cycle and replacing it with a dynamic sidebar.

June 20, 2013 at 5:15 pm #46950JanetMemberHow do I add just one photo, rather than use a slider? I tried inserting the html into the widget and it didn't show up either!:/
June 20, 2013 at 5:21 pm #46951AnitaKeymasterAre you using HTML in a text widget for that area or are you trying to add a shortcode? If you want just one image there - you can Install the Image Widget - http://wordpress.org/plugins/image-widget/. Just download, activate and drag over and upload your image. That's it.

June 20, 2013 at 5:22 pm #46952AnitaKeymasterI set up a client last week using this theme and the Soliloquy-Lite slider and it worked great. The other problem was his hosting company having some cache settings and it didn't work until the next morning.

June 20, 2013 at 6:56 pm #46985JanetMemberThanks to all of you! I found out what the problem was. My WordPress Firewall plugin was killing it every time i tried to use WP-Cycle! Once I whitelisted the WP-Cycle pages, everything works perfectly! So, so happy!
June 20, 2013 at 7:02 pm #46987AnitaKeymasterOh Good, I know that was probably driving you nuts! I'll close this thread now.
