Eleven40 Theme: Featured Posts Not Using Theme CSS

Hello,

I can't get the Genesis Featured Posts widget to accept/use the CSS from the theme. Any suggestions on how I can get this to work?

You'll note that the Recent Posts widget works fine. But I'd rather not use that widget since I'm interested in having categories displayed in my footers.

Can you explain what you mean by accept/use CSS from the theme? I am able to change the CSS with Firebug.

Sorry..,yes. I just would like the Genesis Featured Page and Post widgets to look like the Recent Post widget. I don't understand why they don't look the same with orange text.

You want all of your text to be orange? The Recent Posts widget is just a list of "links" to those posts. If you notice, all of your "links" or URLs are the #CC6600. Your body "text" is #333333. If you want your body text to be orange, just change the body color. Please keep in mind that the body code is "clumped" together with other elements. You will need to pull the body out separately to change the color. I am assuming since you are web developer that doing that will not be a problem for you. I hope this helps.

No, I don't want all of my text to be orange. I only want my footer elements/widgets to be orange. And Genesis Featured Posts and Pages (in the footer area) are not coming through with the orange text.

And no, I'm a web producer, marketing, content and community manager. I dabble in WordPress PHP and in CSS.

You will need drag one of those in the area and then target the widget's individual class in your CSS and create the styling you want.

That's why I'm here. They are in the footer area and I can't figure out how to target them in the CSS. Is it a direct issue with the Genesis Featured Post/Page widgets? Or is there another area (besides the style.css) where I can edit the CSS for these widgets?

You'll notice the Genesis Featured Post/Page widgets are in my footer if you just look at my website. Here's the link again: http://www.diywebsitestore.com.

You probabaly want to add this CSS:

.footer-widgets .featuredpost h2 a {
color: #CC6600;
font-family: Lora;
text-decoration: none;
}

.footer-widgets .featuredpost h2 {
padding: 4px 0 5px;
}

.footer-widgets .featuredpost .post {
border-bottom: 1px solid #444;
padding: 2px 0;
}

The issue is that the featured post widget is wrapping those link in an h2 tag.
