    Hi there

This could possibly be a bug?

I've uploaded an image to a post as a featured image. But I decided I didn't want it, so removed it as the featured image. However my theme (eleven40) continues to display the image  in my archive pages and the thumbnail on my home page.

The image is not set as the featured image any more, so I'm guessing it's getting this association from the media area somehow. When I go to the media management area, I can see that this image has the post name under the column "Uploaded To".

Is the image no longer inserted into the body of the post itself, or did you just remove it from the Featured Image section? I may be wrong, but I think if there isn't a designated Featured Image, the theme just chooses the first image in the post to use for thumbnail purposes. You might try the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin to see if that shakes things out, too.

    Hi Dorian

There are no images in the post at all. Not in the body, and not in the featured image.

The only association between post and image is in the media library.

The "image" you can see in the post is not an image - it's a video player that expands out. It's not the problem. And the same issue occurs on posts without  a video.

    Thanks

    Brett

    PS - love your sig!

This seems to be a bug to me. Where do I report bugs?

    Thanks

    Hey Brett,

Just wanted to let you know I ran into this issue as well. I couldn't find a solution, so I deleted the post and rewrote it. Definitely seems like a bug to me.

I am experiencing the same problem, plus a few others that are likely related. My blog not only retains the link to the featured image even after I delete it it also inserts it twice for each post on the home page: once as a featured image, and then once in the body of the text. Even if the image appears AFTER the read more tag, it still shows up. For some reason, the post I did today works just fine. No idea why. But all the old ones are broken, I updated my theme and wordpress today, and all my old posts didn't have featured images, and I get a nasty error message full of code (sorry I didn't copy it). So to get rid of the error message in place of every excerpt, I had to go in and add featured images to all my posts. So they all now display the featured image twice on the home page.

I am wondering if there is something up with the eleven40 theme and the fact that it uses the grid loop on the homepage - I think (but I may be wrong) that it uses a version of the grid loop that doesn't work with the most recent updates of WordPress and Genesis.

I would suggest trying the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin to see if that makes the weird "phantom" thumbnails disappear, and doing a reset by going into settings> permalinks. navigate to Settings > Permalinks. Select the default permalinks. Save. Then reselect your preferred permalinks, and save again.
