The person who set up my blog and installed my theme (Beautiful by StudioPress) has disappeared. I need to edit my byline... can anyone tell me how to do this? Thank you in advance!

You can do this in Settings > General > Tagline. Enter a new byline/tagline and click "Save Changes".

    Hi Julia,

The tagline and the byline are two different things.
The tagline is the Blog title "description" -- just one line to summarize what the blog is about. You can't see if on my blog.

The byline is what is under the Post title. For example on this post:
    http://rawpaleo.com/eat-beef-heart-for-energy-at-mission-heirloom-in-berkeley-ca/

    This is the byline:

I'd like to edit the byline, not the tagline

In WordPress and Genesis, that's generally referred to as the Entry Header or Entry Meta. You can find code snippets to change it here.
