    If you look at the News Pro demo http://my.studiopress.com/themes/news/#demo-full, you will see the big featured area in the top. That shows the latest post in each category. I want to do that except I don't want it showing the latest post. I just want it to show a specific photo and link to the given category.

    I have been looking around at plugin, but can't find anything. Any ideas??

    You can add an images HTML to a text widget and link it anywhere you like in that widget area.
