I had an issue which seemed to resolve itself, but I anticipate it could come up again in the future so I want to try to fix the code now. I'm using Swank theme. In a blog post, I began three sequential paragraphs each with "1.", "2.", and "3.". I wanted this to just be part of the text, not an actual ordered list in the code. There must be a function, though, that picks up that notation and converts it to an ordered list. As a result, I was getting some unwanted formatting (a drop cap on the first letter after "2."). Any idea where this function might be and what code I should use to turn it off? The link to the page where I was having the issue is below. As it often goes with these things it cleared itself up after I changed each decimal to ")" then changed it back, but I think that's probably just an easy workaround for now.

    Hi,
That's a tough one. The TinyMCE editor is an opinionated beast, and makes all kinds of decisions for you. I have similar conversations with every client who wants firm control of content styling. The bottom line is that WYSIWYG editors are extremely limited.

I even found an annoying Chrome-only WP editor bug where when making a list, Chrome would stick inline styles on the list items, although the latest Chrome seems to have stopped that.

My first guess would be to enter your content into Text rather than Visual mode, but I don't think that will stop Tiny from "thinking" and borking your numbers. My only real suggestion would be to try some of the editor replacement plugins, or some of the mods of TinyMCE itself.

    Good luck,
    Dave

Alright, good to know. I was working in the text mode, so no luck there. I'll check out your suggestions. Such a minor appearance thing, but so annoying! Thanks for the response.

    You're welcome.

I just tried replicating your problem, and I got no ordered list, just plain text even in Visual mode. So it's a mystery.

The only other random idea I have is maybe some plugin interfering, but I doubt it, I don't see anything weird on your site.
