Customizing the thumbnail image on posts

I'm trying to make generating a proper thumbnail a little easier.

I followed these instructions:

In the custom field, I linked to a 150x150 sized image that I had created (so that I could decide what showed in the thumbnail).

I realize this means I need to create an additional image, but I figured I could at least specify this as the thumbnail to use.

It doesn't seem to be getting picked though.

Are you adding the image you want as a thumbnail for the post to the post's default image?

I added the one image you see on the post I linked to.

Then in the custom field area, I added thumbnail and the link to the 150x150 link I provided.

Basically, trying to override the thumbnail that is automatically generated when an image is uploaded.
