I'm sure this has been answered before but I am looking to replace using the Genesis - Featured Page widget in Home - Top with something that is a little more customizeable. I considered using the text widget but that will require a fair amount of markup that I would prefer not to have exposed to the non-techinical folks that may be updating it. I imagine this require the creation of a custom widget but I'm not really sure the best way to proceed.

Specifically, what features/functionality did you need in the featured page widget?

Right now I'm thinking it is going to be pretty simple. I will have a title that I'd like to stylize, some body text, a button that goes to a link that I dictate. I'd probably want to control the opactiy of the background of the widget to get the right contract with the background image I am using with Home Top.

You can style the default featured page widget using CSS but where do you want the button positioned? Before the widget, after the widget or inside the widget content?

It would be inside the widget.
