    I've seen another blog have their own custom read more text, instead of saying [read more] or [continue reading] it would say something like [click here to continue reading more facts about ect, ect, ect.] how was that possible?

    Backup before changes.

    Add following code to functions.php file

    //* Edit read more link
    add_filter('get_the_content_more_link', 'custom_read_more_link');
    add_filter('the_content_more_link', 'custom_read_more_link');
    function custom_read_more_link() {
    return '</br><a class="more-link" href="' . get_permalink() . '" rel="nofollow">Read</a>';
    }

    By any chance would you recommend any backup plugins? The one I had [Wordpress backup to Dropbox] Would take hours to complete. Thank you!

    Hi. In my opinion, you don't need to backup because all you're doing is adding a bit of code. If it doesn't work (which it should) you can just remove the code again. None of your data will be lost.

    If you are only editing few files like in this case - copy and paste contents of the file in a notepad file on your computer as backup. If something goes bad, just paste contents back and start all over again.
