    Okay, I'm just another noob having this issue. Per another post, I saw a suggestion to add the following to the function.php file:

    //* Add support for custom header
    add_theme_support( 'custom-header', array(
    'width' => 360,
    'height' => 106,
    'header-selector' => '.site-title a',
    'header-text' => false
    ) );

    I did so and was able to choose a custom header, which I did. The menu bar indicates there is something there when I hover over with the cursor, but nothing displays. Apparently when I added the above, it replaced the "Dynamic Text or Image" option.

    I can't see anything but the black menu bar.

    Any suggestions are appreciated. I've tried editing .css (but went back to original when that didn't work), using a header logo updater, but to no avail.

    Thanks in advance for the help.

    I did in a way. I rolled back some of the css changes and used a widget to get it installed. To customize, I may have done some workarounds (below). Eventually I'll get a good web design person to clean it up.

    1) Took off page title and tagline (though I would still like to have these for the browser tab.
    2) There was a space above the menu bar. I changed the background to a solid white and changed the menu bar to solid white so they blend.
    3) I may change the text color of the page and tagline to white so they don't display and I will still have the text on the tab.

    Now my problem is that in mobile view, the header is dark grey, and my logo gets blended in.

    I'm totally inexperienced at this, though I do conceptually understand. I'm trying to learn on my own so I have more understanding how it works. As I grow, I'll bring in a developer to optimize.
