    I understand that front-page.php can be used to control the content for the homepage of a genesis child theme, but what about other pages? I'd like to have my "about" "content" etc.. pages all separated in individual files as well. Is there a way that I can do this?

    Sometimes I don't want each page to have the same widgets in the same spots and therefore would like to code layout in a file other than functions.php.

    front-page.php is the only widgetized page. All other pages are created in the WordPress page editor. WordPress does not create separate files for each page. Page content is stored in the database and generated at run time as HTML. The standard template for a page is called default.

    You can create page templates and add a page header which looks something like the page_landing.php file included in most child themes.

    Or

    Create different files using the page i.d or slug

    Example: page-contact.php where contact is the name of the slug for your contact page.

    Use the WordPress Template Hierarchy to name each file.
